The idea of Hope for Her biodegradable, compostable sanitary pads comes from a community based initiative.
My EnviroBren business is proud to stock these environmentally friendly and community based sanitary pads.
For every packet of Hope for Her pads sold I will give .50c back to the Restore a Smile Foundation.
Hope For Her is a social enterprise which wants every woman and girl to have access to clean, affordable, quality sanitary products.
A husband and wife team have built a not for profit organisation called ‘Restore a Smile Foundation’.
This enables people to move from crisis situations to stability.
Through Restore a Smile and one of its initiatives, Blessing Bags (providing hygiene packs to homeless women), they found a massive social and health issue.
They realised that many women and girls use rags, socks or toilet paper as unhygienic alternatives to sanitary pads. Additionally putting them at risk of infection.
Which is why girls and women will benefit from the project by improving their health and personal hygiene.
Poor menstrual hygiene has negative effects on both the environment and health of girls and women.
It can also diminish economic opportunities.
Because of this, the idea for Hope for Her biodegradable compostable sanitary pads was born.
These pads are kind to the body and environment.
Fighting period poverty one sanitary pad at a time!
There will be a “buy one, give one” model. When Hope for Her pads are bought, another pack will be given to someone less fortunate.
Female students face challenges in terms of hygiene.
Many will miss school every month.
They can fall behind in class and drop out of school, preventing them from reaching their full potential. .
The expense of feminine hygiene products can also be a huge barrier.
Lack of sanitary pads often leads to social challenges.
We put women and girls at the heart of our work because we found that when women are healthy and educated, their families will be too.
Furthermore when women earn money, they invest it in the health and education of their children and families.
It’s a wise investment and a powerful way to create lasting change.
Every girl and woman deserves access to safe and clean sanitary pads.
Hope for Her will challenge the way the world views a period.
Wearing a sanitary pad improves physical health and restores dignity.
Which is why Hope for Her will supply disposable, sustainable sanitary pads to schools, shelters and prisons within the City of Canning.
This will lift barriers and restore hope and dignity to women and girls in our communities.
Additionally Hope For Her is raising funds to supply pads to females who can’t afford them.
Let’s end Period Poverty!
A lack of access to feminine hygiene products is a serious problem in Australia.
The issue was once confined to third world countries but this is no longer the case with many struggling to afford pads.
This initiative will be on-going and will help girls in the Canning district as well as rural regions of Western Australia.
